Large Rooms and Plenty of Flexibility – Two Great Advantages of Historic Old Homes

One of the old historic homes in Elizabethtown KY One of the things I love about some of the bigger historic old homes is their wonderful flexibility.

When our three children were young, we only had two bedrooms so they shared a room. A couple of years before we moved, we were able to add one bedroom and bathroom. It helped but still, I longed for a day when they would each have their own room, giving us all a bit more peace and quiet.

I would have given my eyeteeth for a large and flexible house like this delightful one. There are four bedrooms upstairs and each are so generous-sized! Three beds do, indeed, fit comfortable in any and all of the rooms. It’s wonderful!

Not only that! There is an extra room downstairs that gives you even more flexibility. The room is another huge one. It has two large storage cupboards, the hook-ups for the washer and dryer, and still has plenty of room to use this as a playroom or an occasional guest room. For those of us who love homeschooling, it can also be a wonderful space for school projects and classwork.

With all these large rooms you would have plenty of flexibility to rearrange kids room arrangements to your heart’s delight – whether you have a small family or a large one. As is often heard nowadays, “They sure don’t make them that way anymore!” Or if they do, they aren’t usually affordable homes like so many of the lovely old Victorian farmhouses!

Definitely a sweet style from a past era that can also be a big blessing in this era.
